‘Over 10,000 construction jobs and 10,000 high tech jobs will be created,’ says Joe Biden

US President Joe Biden traveled to Arizona on Tuesday in his first visit to the southwestern state since becoming president, where he toured a Taiwanese-owned facility in Phoenix manufacturing computer chips.

Speaking at the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) plant, Biden thanked the company for their investment in the US.

“Apple had to buy all the advanced chips from overseas. Now they're gonna bring more of their supply chain here at home,” he said. “It can be a game changer.”

TSMC invested $40 billion in Arizona, which marks the largest foreign investment in the history of this state, according to Biden.

“Over 10,000 construction jobs and 10,000 high tech jobs will be created,” he added.

In addition to TSMC executives, the Biden event was attended by Apple CEO Tim Cook, who said his company will use US-made chips at the new Arizona factory.
