Soldiers injured in Gaza after explosion in Beit Hanoun as Israeli forces continue offensive
The Israeli army said on Monday that two soldiers were seriously injured during a battle in the northern Gaza Strip, with local media reporting that they were wounded by an explosive device in Beit Hanoun, in the northern part of the enclave.
According to the military, “Two soldiers from a Nahal patrol were seriously injured earlier today during a battle in northern Gaza.”
“The soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment at a hospital, and their families have been notified,” the military said in a statement.
The army did not provide details on the circumstances of the battle.
However, Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the two soldiers were injured by an explosion in a building in Beit Hanoun.
This incident comes amid ongoing Israeli demolitions of residential buildings in the Jabalia refugee camp, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun, located in the northernmost part of Gaza, as reported by eyewitnesses to Anadolu earlier on Monday.
Since the start of the Israeli ground invasion of northern Gaza on Oct. 5, 2024, more than 40 officers and soldiers have been killed, and dozens more have been injured, according to the daily.
The Israeli army has continued a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed more than 45,850 people, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on the enclave.
