Since Nov. 15, when the Syrian regime commenced a renewed, brutal campaign with Russian support against East Aleppo, Assad's soldiers have seized 45 percent of opposition-held lands, together with 5 more sq kms , which opposition fighters had to retreat from recently.
The Assad regime, assisted by Russia, PYD (Democratic Union Party) terrorists and Iran-backed Shiite militias, has ceaselessly been conducting intense attacks on the eastern part of the city from both air and ground, while the civilian casualties have increased to more than 750.
Although Russia denied all allegations regarding its participation, the opposition which obtained walkie-talkie conversations, found strong Russian presence at every level of the ground campaign.
Hundreds of thousands of civilians got stuck in 25 sq kms
The opposition has retreated completely from Karam al-Tarab, al-Jazmati, and al-Halwaniye districts and partly from Tariq al-Bab. At this stage, they hold a 25-sq-km area out of 45-sq-km area they once controlled, according to Mohammed Sheik, a FSA commander, operating in Aleppo.
Hundreds of thousands of civilians became stuck in 25 sq kms, while thousands are on the move attempting to reach safe points. According to civilian defense officers, around 35,000 people had to stay in captured areas, now controlled by the regime and the PYD terror organization, due to heavy bombardment.
Aleppo, the second largest city of Syria after Damascus, lies 40 kms away from the Turkish border and its eastern central district is controlled by the opposition.
It's estimated that 300,000 people are trapped in east Aleppo under the siege of the regime, while civilian casualties have escalated to over 750 since Nov. 15.
According to Aleppo's local health authority, the people's food supplies have already been completely depleted and they have not even been able to meet their basic needs of shelter, warm clothing, water and decent toilet facilities in the past 101 days.
