Israel has signed two agreements with a local company to procure weapons, including thousands of heavy aerial bombs, amid Tel Aviv's genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

In a Tuesday statement, the Israeli Defense Ministry said the two agreements with Elbit Systems are worth nearly 1 billion shekels ($276 million).

Elbit Systems is Israel's largest military manufacturer, producing 85% of the army's ground equipment and 85% of the drones used by its air force.

Under the first agreement, Elbit Systems will provide the defense ministry with thousands of heavy aerial bombs, the statement said.

The second agreement involves the establishment of a "national factory (...) to produce raw materials that were previously sourced primarily from abroad before the war," it added.

The new facility will feature advanced production lines for active materials used by Israel's defense industry, the ministry said.

According to Israeli media reports, the army has dropped massive quantities of bombs on Gaza since the start of its genocidal war on Oct. 7, 2023.

The Israeli army has continued a brutal war on Gaza that has killed nearly 45,900 people, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on the enclave.
