Onur Ensar Ayanoğlu went to the Bosphorus Bridge to resist against FETÖ’s coup attempt. He was martyred by 2 bullets. Ayanoğlu was shot as he tried to save a man lying on the ground who had been shot.
The 27 year old martyr was from Kastamonu. He was the oldest child of the family and got engaged on May 13th. He went to the Bosphorus Bridge with his brother Oğuz Ayanoğlu. He tried to save a man who had been shot. Onur Ensar Ayanoğlu was martyred by two bullets, one in his neck and one his chest.
“I love my country more”
Ayanoğlu was accepted to university this year. One month before the coup attempt, he got engaged to his girlfriend whom he had been together with for 9 years. When Ayanoğlu’s fiancée begged him to not go, he replied, “I love my country more.”
On the night of July 15th, Onur went to Kısıklı first and then the Bosphorus Bridge with his brother Ghazi Oğuz Ayanoğlu. He was helping people who were shot on the bridge while he was covered in blood. Oğuz embraced his brother after seeing him covered in blood. Oğuz said that the putschist soldiers started shooting at them as they were holding each other and they hid behind a car. They, then, joined a crowd walking towards the putschist soldiers. His brother said to him, “Don’t leave my side.”

Oğuz Ayanoğlu said that someone holding a Turkish flag moved towards the putschists. According to Oğuz, the person with the Turkish flag was shot suddenly. Onur Ensar tried to warn a girl, “They will shoot you too,” and then they started to walk to save the man who was shot. It was at this moment that the putschists started shooting them and Oğuz was shot in his hip. Oğuz said some strangers carried him and then brought his brother to his side. Ayanoğlu saw that his brother was not moving and was shot in the neck. He prayed that his brother would be in intensive care during the period he stayed in the hospital. Ghazi Oğuz Ayanoğlu, who described his brother as, “A very good and helpful person,” heard about his brother’s martyrdom 5 days later.
The name of martyr Onur Ensar Ayanoğlu was given to an elementary school in Torbalı, İzmir.
