Minister of National Defense Fikri Işık said Naval Commander Veysel Kösele had been contacted. However, he did not tell where Kösele had been.
Police teams entered the 2nd Army Command. The Anti-Terrorism Branch Director took high-ranking putschist soldiers from the command. Putschist General Adem Huduti exited his office 15 hours after the coup attempt and surrendered to the police.
While all this was happening inside of the command on the night of July 15th, putschist soldiers in the entrance pulled guns on Malatya Governor Mustafa Toprak and Malatya Police Chief Ömer Urhal while they were going to the 2nd Army Headquarters.
The order to bomb Parliament came from Malatya 2nd Army Command
The Malatya 2nd Army Command, which was under the command of General Adem Huduti, was the second pillar of the July 15th coup attempt. The helicopters that bombed the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on the coup evening had taken off from the 7th Jet Main Base of the 2nd Army Command in line with the order of coup plotters.
Following the failed coup attempt, Prime Minister Yıldırım appeared before the cameras along with Chief of General Staff General Hulusi Akar and Minister of Interior Efkan Ala and delivered a press statement at the Çankaya Prime Ministry Mansion. Prime Minister Yıldırım announced that a total of 161 people were martyred and 1,440 others were injured according to the latest information, adding that 2,839 soldiers with various ranks who had been involved in the coup attempt were detained until then.
