On the night of the vicious July 15 coup attempt, Oğuzhan Yaşar, who was one of the first to arrive to the Presidential Palace to resist the putschists, was taken to the hospital due to his serious wounds after Beştepe was bombarded.
Oğuzhan Yaşar, who struggled for his life for 20 days at TOBB Hospital, achieved martyrdom on Wednesday, August 3rd. Yaşar’s body was brought to his hometown of Erzurum, in the company of his mother, father, sibling and Recep Akdağ, the Minister of Health.
Martyr Oğuzhan Yaşar’s funeral prayer was held at Yaymeşe Mosque, in Şenkaya, Erzurum. People, who didn’t leave the martyr alone on his last journey, paraded for the martyr, who was committed to the ground in the village’s cemetery.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan remembered Oğuzhan Yaşar’s memory with kind words, “A 23-year-old, 1.95 meters tall youth in his bloom. A beautiful youth of world. He became purer with martyrdom. I wanted to see his face in the morgue. And, I went to the morgue to see his face.”
