The martyr Murat Alkan was called to the Ankara Gölbaşı Special Operations Department Headquarters for an urgent mission on the night of July 15th. He left his house in a rush. Alkan, who was a father of 2, went out onto the streets with his 6 friends. He had forgotten his gun. Alkan and his friends were martyred on the spot after the bombing by the putschist soldiers.
The martyr, who was 42 years old with 2 children, had studied in the Police Vocational School in Nazilli, Aydın. He was also a helicopter technician in the Ankara Gölbaşı Special Operations Aviation Department.
“A faithful, honorable and respectful son”
Alkan and his friends were martyred during the bombing attack by putschist soldiers, as they were trying to stop the helicopter being operated by the putschists at the Special Operations Department Headquarters.
Sıddık Alkan, father of the martyr, waited to hear from his son until morning. Alkan received the devastating news of the martyrdom of his son along with his friends, in the morning. Alkan describes his son as faithful, honorable, and respectful.
Murat Alkan had served in many operations fighting against terrorism in the Diyarbakır Helicopter Fleet, between 2013 and 2015.
The name of martyr Murat Alkan was given to an Imam Hatip middle school in Nilüfer, Bursa.
