Halil İbrahim Yıldırım, who was the youngest martyr of the July 15th coup, was only 15 years old. FETÖ members targeted the young Halil İbrahim, who was resisting in front of the Bayrampaşa Police Headquarters.
Martyr Halil İbrahim Yıldırım worked at a car dealership in Bayrampaşa. He met with his father after he left work on the day of July 15th. He begged his father to go into the streets after he heard the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
His family donated his organs
Halil İbrahim and his father Bahattin Yıldırım moved towards the crowd in front of the Bayrampaşa Police Headquarters at 01:00 AM. Halil İbrahim, who was really excited, suddenly fell on the ground. His father tried to get his son up and then realized that his son was shot after he saw the blood on his head.
They told Yıldırım at the hospital that the bullet scraped his head. However, they later found out that the bullet impaled Martyr Halil İbrahim in the head. After the autopsy, Halil İbrahim Yıldırım was buried in the Edirnekapı Martyrs’ Graveyard after the funeral that took place in the Bayrampaşa Muradiye Mosque.
His uncle Adem Cuda gave a statement at the funeral, “My nephew died for his country. Long live our country. We donated his organs as his family. Maybe other people will find life thanks to his organs.”
The young man of the house
The Yıldırım family moved to Istanbul from Şanlıurfa. Halil İbrahim was born in Istanbul, in 2001. He studied at the Hacı Süleyman Elementary School. He continued his education here after he moved to Bayrampaşa.
Halil İbrahim, who was a member of a family with 5 children, had to end his educational career to help support the family and so began his struggle as the “man of the house”.
“We were going to travel to other countries with my brother.
One of the martyr’s brothers expressed his remorse, "We had a common dream with my brother. We wanted to travel to other countries. People who did this killed my brother and stole our dreams. My brother went into the streets for his country. He fought with putschist soldiers. I’m proud of my brother.”
The youngest participant of the fight for democracy became unforgettable in this epic history. The name of this martyr was given to an Anatolian İmam Hatip High School in Bayrampaşa.
