Ferhat Koç was one of the many people who was martyred and whose dreams were shattered by the pro-coup soldiers’ traitorous bullets. Special Operations Policeman Ferhat Koç, who left a bitter story behind, was going to get married on July 31st if he had not been martyred on the night of July 15th.
The Special Operations Police Officer Ferhat Koç was on duty at the Gölbaşı Special Operations Department Headquarters, where the most amount of losses took place on the night of the FETÖ coup attempt. When his father called around 10:30 PM to question him about the increasing military activity, Ferhat told his father, “Things are a bit bad here. I’ll call you back.”
Martyrdom instead of dress rehearsal
The martyr Koç told his fiancée Gizem Koç, with whom he got together on the night of the attempt, that he wanted to stay on duty. Gizem Koç cancelled her dress rehearsal. She was not able to reach her fiancée when she called him around 11:00 PM on the night of the coup attempt. The family of Koç, who was martyred in the first bombing attack in Gölbaşı, received the devastating news from the police officers that came to their house.
The martyred police officer Ferhat Koç, was buried in Turhal, Tokat where he was born.
The martyr Koç graduated from the Education Faculty of Kocatepe University in the Department of Automotive Teaching and started working at the Prime Ministry Transportation Unit because he was not appointed for a teaching job. Then he started working on the flight team, after passing the Aviation Department exams.
The name Martyr Ferhat Koç was given to an Anatolian Imam Hatip high school in Turhal, Tokat.
