Emrah Sağaz, who was expecting to be a father in 4 months, was martyred by a tank controlled by FETÖ members on the night of July 15th.

Emrah Sağaz, who resided in the Esenler district of Istanbul, went into the streets with his brother as soon as he heard President Erdoğan’s call. Sağaz joined the resisting citizens against the coup attempt, on the Atışalanı Street. He was near an area where the traitorous soldiers started running people over with their tanks. Sağaz and other citizens were crushed by the putschist soldiers as they were trying to escape.

Salim Sağaz, the brother of Emrah, says his brother was a very calm person and often talked about martyrdom, “We are a very sensitive family when it comes to our country. Emrah is a very calm person but he lost his calmness that night.” His wife said they got married 1.5 years ago and added, “I couldn’t get enough of my love. My God took him.”

The martyr left ‘Hiranur’

Emrah Sağaz, who was only 27 years old, was going to be a father in 4 months. The youngest of 6 brothers, he was buried in the Giresun Çamoluk Martyrs’ Cemetery.

Elif Sağaz, who was 5 months pregnant when her husband was martyred on the night of July 15th, gave birth to their daughter 4 months later. The martyr’s daughter is named Hiranur, which was the name Emrah Sağaz chose for her.

The name of Martyr Emrah Sağaz was given to an elementary school in Istanbul.

Putschist soldiers who left Topkule Barraks in tanks on the night of July 15 turned the O-3 highway into a blood bath when faced with citizens who wanted to stop them in the Esenler area. The putschist soldiers did not hesitate to run over people who threw themselves in front of the tanks as they crushed cars on the road and opened fire in order to advance. Those moments were captured on citizens’ cameras.
