At least nine people were killed and 11 others injured after Russian warplanes attack a school in Syria's Idlib town on Saturday.
The attack took place in the rebel-held area Jarcanaz district. According to a statement by the Syrian opposition, nine people, including five children, were killed in the attack. It was reported that the injured were rushed to the field hospital in the area.
Russian airstrikes have been hitting mosques and hospitals, despite the fact that medical facilities have special protection under international humanitarian law, and attacking them can amount to a war crime.
Russia began air operations in Syria on September 30 with the aim of supporting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
