China on Thursday halted meat imports from a US firm after a banned substance was found in a shipment, local media reported.
According to public broadcaster CGTN, ractopamine, a type of animal feed additive, was detected in the shipment by King Meat Service, the Chinese General Administration of Customs said.
The Chinese customs authority has notified the US Department of Agriculture about the matter.
