Two security officials were martyred Sunday in a PKK attack in this southern province, a security source told the Anadolu Agency.
The terror group launched the attack against a police checkpoint near Mustafa Kemal University, according to a security source, who wanted to remain anonymous due to restrictions on talking to the media, and said three wounded officers received emergency treatment at the hospital where two died.
Authorities have launched a wide-scale operation in the province.
More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-long armed campaign against the state in July 2015.
