Salih Alışkan, who went to the Bosphorus Bridge after reciting his night prayer, was one of the first people who entered martyrdom on the night of July 15th. He was martyred by putschists’ bullets at 11 A.M. He said, “Don’t fear death,” before leaving for the Bosphorus Bridge.
Alışkan heard about the coup attempt after he left the Beylerbeyi Mosque with his friends. He rushed to the Bosphorus Bridge. He was shot in his chest as soon as he arrived on the bridge. Alışkan was the first martyr of the bridge. He was a 47 year old salesman.
Salih Alışkan, who was a father of 3, was buried in the Küplüce Graveyard.

Putschists first closed the Bosporus and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridges. The events escalated by the time civilians flocked to the bridges. The putchists raked the people with gunfire on the bridge and they ran over vehicles with tanks. Erol Olçok and his son Abdullah Tayyip Olçok were shot first in the gunfire from the traitors. Many citizens were martyred, as the putschists opened fire randomly on the crowd.
