Mustafa Aslan generally worked in Tokat, but was on a temporary mission serving in the Ankara Gölbaşı Special Operations Headquarters. Aslan was martyred on his fifth day serving in Ankara by the second bomb that was dropped by FETÖ’s soldiers onto the headquarters.
The martyr, who was 47 years old and from Yogzat, was married with 3 sons. His original workplace was the Tokat Special Operations Headquarters but he was sent to Ankara for 6 months as a trainer. Aslan was in the Gölbaşı Special Operations Headquarters during the coup attempt. He was able to talk to his brother once during the first bomb attack. Aslan told his brother, “Bastard FETÖ members are bombing here right now, I’ll call you later.” He was not able to communicate with anybody after that.
“We were able to receive a third of the body.”
Aslan was martyred by the second bomb dropped by FETÖ members. His family was not able to find his body for a long time. It was found among unidentified bodies with no physical integrity.
Lokman Aslan, the brother of Mustafa Aslan, is a noncommissioned officer. He went to look for his brother’s body in Ankara, but was unsuccessful. Unidentified bodies were tested with the DNA sample obtained from the martyr’s son. After being identified, his family received Mustafa Aslan’s body.
Lokman said, “I was only able to receive one third of the body. I guess it was because the bomb dropped so close to him. I wanted him to stay as I remembered him. I didn’t look at the body. I didn’t let anyone look at the body either.”
“They used to call him haji”
Lokman said that his brother was a religious person and never missed his night prayers. He also added that martyr Mustafa Aslan would stop chatting and go to do his prayers no matter where he was when it was time and that that was why everybody called him “Haji”.
The martyr was buried in the Yozgat Martyrs’ Graveyard.
The name of martyr Mustafa Aslan was given to a vocational and technical Anatolian high school in Yozgat.
