The martyr Mehmet Güder was the manager of the restaurant named Ziya Şark Sofrası in Fatih. He had 4 grandchildren. He went to Vatan Avenue as soon as he heard of the coup attempt, telling his employees, “When are we going to protect our country if we can’t protect it now?” He joined the crowd stopping the helicopter which was trying to land on the street. He was shot by the helicopter in his shoulder and head. He was martyred on the spot.
The martyr’s son Halil İbrahim Güder said that his father talked with his mother on the phone before he left the restaurant. They were not able to reach his father afterwards and they learned about his father’s martyrdom from a police officer.
