Originally from Mardin, the six children of Mahmut Eşit, one of those who resisted the coup attempt of the enemies of democracy on July 15 2016, were left fatherless.
Mahmut Eşit, who was injured when a stone lodged in his body while riding his motorcycle during the protests on the night of the coup attempt, fell a martyr at the hospital he was taken.
Mahmut Eşit’s 16-year-old son İbrahim Halil Eşit, who said that their financial situation was not well, stated, “Our only petition from the government is that they accept our father as a martyr. We live in a rented house in İstanbul, we have no job to earn our living. Only he was working.
After the autopsy at the İstanbul Forensic Medicine Institution, Eşit was brought to his hometown of Derik, Mardin via a funeral vehicle provided by the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality. His coffin covered in Turkish flag was buried in the Hıdran Cemetery in Cevizpınar, Mardin after his funeral prayer was held.
The martyr’s name was given to an Imam Hatip high school in Derik, Mardin.
