Deputy Inspector Kübra Doğanay headed into the streets on July 15th after she learned about the attack on the Special Operations Department Headquarters where she worked. Doğanay’s sister sent her into the streets saying, “Recite Ayet-El Kürsi.” She was martyred by the second bomb which was dropped on the place where she was trying to retrieve ammunition.
The martyr was in her house which was close to the Special Operations Department Headquarters on the night of July 15th. She wanted to go back to work after the first bombing. As she was leaving her house, her colleague Martyr Cennet Yiğit called her on the phone and offered that they go together.
“Say hello to my parents”
The two friends fought to eliminate FETÖ’s siege in front of the Ankara Provincial Police Headquarters. Kübra talked to her sister for the last time at 11:58 PM. Her sister said to her, “Sister, take care of yourself. Keep reciting Ayet el-Kürsi. It will protect you like armor.” Kübra told her sister, “Alright, say hello to our parents. My battery is about to die. We will surround the Provincial Headquarters. My job needs me.” The traitors dropped the second bomb when the women arrived at the door of the place where they were getting ammunition from. Doğanay was martyred with her friend on the scene. Martyr Cennet Yiğit was her best friend. They studied and worked together. On that night, both of them were martyred at the age of 23.
The coffin of Martyr Doğanay was wrapped in the Turkish flag. Her body was brought to the Mosque in Yeşilhisar, Kayseri. Her funeral was held in the districts graveyard.
She said, “I went to Çanakkale,” so that her family would not worry
Kübra Doğanay, who had dreamed of being a police officer since her childhood, entered deputy inspector exams when she was in the 4th year of the Marmara University Interior Architecture Department. Doğanay worked in the Sur district of Diyarbakır at first. However, she told her parents that she went to Çanakkale so that her family would not worry. She took part in operations against the PKK for 8 months. Doğanay was called to Ankara afterward. She applied to be sent back to Diyarbakır 15-20 days before her martyrdom. The 23-year-old Special Operations Police Officer always said she wanted to be a martyr.
