The 35-year-old waiter Cengiz Hasbal went to the Bosphorus Bridge as a reaction to the coup attempt of the Gülenist Terrorist Organization on the night of July 15. Cengiz Hasbal, who was seriously wounded during the resistance by the putschists' bullets, fell a martyr after 19 days of struggling for life.
“How happy are we”
Cengiz was married with two children and worked as waiter to provide for his living. Ahmet Hasbal, the father of the martyr, stated, “There’s nothing to do. How happy are we. May God bless all the martyrs. That night, they went out together with our neighbours. He got wounded seriously at the bridge. He was in intensive care unit for 20 days, and he got God’s blessings yesterday. May God bless all of them, they fell martyrs for this country.”
The martyr’s coffin covered with the Turkish flag was taken to the Saray Mosque in Küplüce, Üsküdar, from the hospital by his relatives. A lot of people attended the martyr’s funeral as well as the 11th President Abdullah Gül and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak. Martyr Cengiz Hasbal was committed to ground in Küplüce Cemetery, after his funeral prayer was held.
The martyr’s name was given to a middle school in Ataşehir, İstanbul.
