Barcelona's coach announces his resignation shortly after losing Spain's 2013-14 La Liga title to Atletico Madrid
Barcelona coach, Gerardo Martino, resigned Saturday shortly after losing this season's La Liga title to Atletico Madrid.
In a press conference Martino said "I have resigned from my coaching position at Barcelona. I thank the club for their confidence in me and I am sorry not to have achieved the club's goals. It was an honor to manage Barcelona."
It is expected that Celta Vigo's ex-coach, Luis Enrique, will replace Martino.
Meanwhile, Barcelona's chairman Josep Maria Bartomeu has said that they obviously failed this season and therefore there will be drastic changes for the next season. He added that many of the current squad will possibly not be a part of Barcelona next year and that new signings would take their places.
