Israel targeted southern towns of Aita al-Shaab and Yarin

One person was killed on Saturday when an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle on the road near the town of Zarariyah, Tyre district in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry, marking a new violation of the November ceasefire agreement.

This incident follows several Israeli airstrikes earlier in the day on the southern towns of Aita al-Shaab and Yarin.

Lebanese News Agency NNA reported that an Israeli drone carried out the dawn attack on two artillery batteries in the Mafraq neighborhood of Aita al-Shaab located in the Bint Jbeil district of Nabatieh Governorate, southern Lebanon. No casualties were reported from that strike.

Israeli forces also targeted a concrete block manufacturing facility in the border town of Yarin.

A fragile ceasefire has been in place in Lebanon since November, ending months of cross-border warfare between Israel and Hezbollah, which escalated into a full-scale conflict in September.

Lebanese authorities have reported nearly 3,000 Israeli violations of the truce, including the deaths of nearly 200 people and the injuries of around 500 others.

Under the ceasefire deal, Israel was supposed to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by Jan. 26, but the deadline was extended to Feb. 18 after Israel refused to comply. It still maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
