Counting the 2 recently killed, a total of 609 terrorists were killed in Hakkari province, Turkish army says
Two terrorists were killed with mortar fires and artillery shooting, according to the recent statement released by the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF).
TAF stated that 2 terrorists, the perpetrators of the incident last week in which 2 Turkish soldiers were martyred, were killed in shelling, and their heavy weapons were destroyed in the Kilit Hill region of the Şemdinli countryside in southeastern Hakkari province.
The statement also revealed the latest situation of Turkey's war on PKK terror. Accordingly, 540 PKK terror organization members in Hakkari and 68 in Şemdinli have been killed in operations since Aug. 4.
It is also noted that on the radio talks of terrorists in dismay were detected.
Meanwhile, around 139,500 smuggled packs of cigarettes and 80 sacks of tea were seized in the vicinity of Tekeli, Ortaklar, Ormanlı and Korgan villages in the countryside of Şemdinli town in Hakkari province. This crack down largely undermined this circle of smuggling activities of the disruptive terrorist organization.
Recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey and much of the international community including the U.S. and the EU countries, the PKK has carried out an armed struggle against the Turkish state for nearly 30 years.
By breaking off the bold peace and ceasefire agreement initiated by the Turkish government, the PKK had launched an all-out war against Turkey in July 2015, but their activities have been significantly constrained after continuing clashes over one and a half years.
Turkey blames the terrorist group for the deaths of tens of thousands of people.
