The U.S. has handed Syria’s Raqqa, which it bombarded from land and air for six months, to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist organization.
During the past six months of bombardment, 1,700 civilians were killed and 65 percent of the city was destroyed.
Posters of the PKK ringleader Abdullah Öcalan were hung around the Raqqa city center.
Western media outlets that entered the region following the handover of Raqqa to the PKK said that Raqqa was liberated from Daesh.
Raqqa has now changed hands from one terrorist organization to another.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.
The PKK has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. More than 40,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the three-decade long conflict.
