Ankara has appointed Şaban Dişli as Turkey’s ambassador in the Hague, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Friday.
"Turkey and Netherlands’ respective ambassadors were appointed today in line with the agreement to normalize relations," the ministry said in a statement.
It added the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands will visit Turkey in the first week of October and the visit will contribute to the normalization of relations.
"We welcome these developments and hope to see their positive effects on our relations with the Netherlands with whom we enjoy long-standing relations for over 400 years as well as on our EU membership process," it added.
Meanwhile, Netherlands also appointed Marjanne de Kwaasteniet as ambassador to Turkey, Dutch Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Kwaasteniet was serving as Netherlands' Permanent Representative to NATO.
