Anti-personnel shell targets Israeli force in Beit Lahia city, Hamas says
The Palestinian resistance group Hamas said Tuesday that 10 Israeli soldiers were killed and injured in an attack in northern Gaza.
The group's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, said its fighters fired an anti-personnel shell at an Israeli force in Al-Atatra neighborhood in Beit Lahia city, causing the casualties.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on Hamas' statement.
Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing over 54,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war crimes against defenseless civilians in the enclave.
