Town center of Tal Abyad district cleared of YPG/PKK terrorists on Sunday amid Turkey's ongoing military operation

The Syrian National Army (SNA) on Monday hung its flag in Tal Abyad town in northern Syria, having cleared it of YPG/PKK terrorists.

Images recorded by Anadolu Agency across the border in Akcakale, a southeastern border district of Turkey’s Sanliurfa, showed a so-called flag of the YPG/PKK was replaced by the SNA's in a western area of Tal Abyad.

The town center of Syria's Tal Abyad district was cleared of YPG/PKK terrorists on Sunday as Turkey's Operation Peace Spring continues.

Turkey on Oct. 9, Wednesday, launched Operation Peace Spring to eliminate terrorists from northern Syria in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees, and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.

Ankara wants to clear northern Syria east of the Euphrates River of the terrorist PKK and its Syrian offshoot, the PYD/YPG.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the European Union -- has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The PYD/YPG is its Syrian offshoot.
