Israel claims it has been conducting a large-scale ground operation in northern Gaza since Oct. 5 to prevent the Palestinian resistance group from regrouping

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, announced Sunday that they killed and wounded Israeli soldiers and targeted military vehicles in northern Gaza.

Al-Qassam said in a statement on Telegram that its fighters “successfully targeted a Zionist force of nine soldiers who had taken refuge inside a house in the western area of Jabalia camp with a TBG shell, leaving them dead and injured."

They said their fighters also targeted three armored personnel carriers using an explosive device in the Al-Alami area of the Jabalia refugee camp and in the town of Beit Hanoun.

Additionally, they "sniped a Zionist officer on Abu Al-Aish Street in the Jabalia camp."

Israel says it has been conducting a large-scale ground operation in northern Gaza since Oct. 5 to prevent Hamas from regrouping. Palestinians, however, accuse Israel of seeking to occupy the area and forcibly displace its residents.

Since then, no sufficient humanitarian aid including food, medicine and fuel has been allowed into the area, leaving the population on the verge of imminent famine.

The onslaught was the latest episode in a brutal Israeli war on Gaza that has killed more than 45,200 people, mostly women and children, since Oct. 7, 2023.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last month for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on Gaza.
