Assad provides chemical weapons to PYD terror group for using against Turkey, an FSA commander says

The Syrian regime has handed over a huge amount of chemical weapons to the terror group PKK's Syrian affiliation Democratic Union Party (PYD) terrorist organization that can be used against Turkey, said Free Syrian Army (FSA) commander General Zahir al-Sakit.

“The PYD and Daesh terrorist groups, fighting in Syria, have a significant amount of chemical weapons,” said Sakit, who was a former Syrian army general from the chemical weapons branch.

PYD could make Turkey look responsible for attacks

Turkey spoiled the PYD's plans for their Project west of the Euphrates, according to the FSA commander. For this reason alone, PYD could attempt to frame Turkey for being the perpetrator of some chemical attacks.

Sakit stated that the Turkish military operation in northern Syria had threatened a PYD-West project of the Northern Syria Corridor, as Turkey-backed FSA forces headed to Manbij after liberating Jarabulus.

He warned that the terror groups can use these dangerous weapons against civilians in Syria and would try to blame Turkey, make Turkey look responsible for those attacks.

“The Damascus regime had handed over the chemical weapons in the northern Syrian city of Al-Hasakah to the PYD after the city had been captured by the Daesh terrorist group in 2015,” Sakit said.

He confirmed that there were three shipments of chemical weapons from the regime's chemical depots in the Sihne areas.

Sakit recalled that both PYD and Daesh had used chemical weapons targeting civilians several times.

'Chemical weapons have not been destroyed'

“The chemical weapons had not been destroyed in the area the regime forces were evacuated from,” he added.

“Even PYD and Daesh used the weapons against each other in Tal Abyad and Al Hasakah.”

“PYD can use chemical weapons in Manbij. But the important thing is, they tried to make Turkey look responsible for this attack. There would be some propaganda works on this issue,” Sakit warned.

Operation Euphrates Shield, which was launched last week, is aimed at improving security, supporting coalition forces and eliminating the terror threat along Turkey's border through FSA fighters backed by Turkish armor, artillery and jets.
