Solider martyred during counter-terrorism operation in northern Iraq, Turkish military says
A Turkish solider was martyred during an ongoing operation against the PKK terrorist organization in northern Iraq, said Turkish military on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said the soldier was martyred in a terror attack targeting Turkish troops, who were engaged in counter-terrorism operation.
Following the attack, Turkish military launched air operation and destroyed several terrorist targets, according to the statement.
The military offered condolences to the family of the martyred soldier.
Turkish Armed Forces will "continue its fight against all terror organizations until the last terrorist is neutralized", the statement added.
Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, the PKK has been responsible for the death of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
