The Iraqi province of Kirkuk has turned into being the terrorism base of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) due to the ongoing problems between the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) and the Baghdad government which caused an authority gap in the region.

While the second Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) office was opened in Kirkuk; 128 coupist FETÖ members' residency permits were approved.

The FETÖ terrorists include Turkish and Kurdish-origin terrorists .

The Baghdad government is also known to pay salaries to the PKK terrorists that have a bureau in Kirkuk as in Sinjar.

The Iraqi officials sweep the PKK terrorist activities under the carpet by camouflaging PKK bureau under name of Culture Committee of Northern Kurdistan.

Kirkuk is known to be a troubled region due to the unsolved problems with the Northern Iraqi government.
