The Turkish military killed 20 terrorists from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) after they tried to attack army bases in the southeastern Hakkari province, the military said on Saturday.
Terrorists were reportedly killed while crossing into Turkey from northern Iraq and attempted to launch attacks on military bases in the mountainous border region.
Meanwhile, three terrorists were captured dead with ammunition including bombs and weapons in the Turkish city of Van.
The Turkish government launched a reconciliation process in late 2012 to end the 31-year-long conflict with PKK, in which 40,000 people have been killed, mostly in southeastern Turkey. After more than two years of truce, the PKK broke the ceasefire and resumed its terrorist activities this summer.
Security forces also launched wide ranging anti-PKK operations inside Turkey and northern Iraq, and demolished most of the storage depots, barracks, caves, and shelters used by the militants.
