The gendarmerie discovers 41 mines, hidden in bushes near a Hakkari village by PKK terrorists
Turkish gendarmerie have found a total of 41 anti-personnel landmines, laid by Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in rural part of Şemdinli town, Hakkari.
Reports said the gendarmerie discovered the mines, hidden in bushes, in a vacant field west of Ortaklar village, located in Şemdinli.
The explosive devices have been discovered in the most recent part of Turkey's ongoing sweeping campaign in Hakkari. Following the mine discovery, many pieces of equipment and munitions were destroyed in the province's Çukurca town.
The explosive devices has been described as Italian-made Valmara 69 mines.
The operation was conducted following a tip-off from local villagers.
