Army orders civilians in Jabalia, northwest of Gaza City, to immediately evacuate their areas
The Israeli army issued an immediate evacuation order for Palestinian civilians in Jabalia and Gaza City on Wednesday ahead of a new offensive in the area.
Military spokesman Avichay Adraee said civilians in Jabalia in northern Gaza and areas designated as Blocks 763, 762, and 761 northwest of Gaza City must immediately leave their areas and head to the city center.
The spokesman claimed that rockets were fired by Palestinian fighters from the targeted areas.
The evacuation order was the second on Wednesday after the army warned residents of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza to leave and head to shelters in western Gaza.
Such warnings typically precede aerial bombardments or ground incursions by Israeli forces.
The Israeli army has continued a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed over 45,550 victims, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023 despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
