Israeli soldiers moderately injured in attack on their tank in Jabalia through an explosive device, reports daily Maariv

Three Israeli soldiers were moderately injured on Thursday in an attack on their tank in Jabalia, northern Gaza, through an explosive device, a local newspaper reported on Friday.

The Israeli daily Maariv claimed that the Israeli army expects the fighting in Jabalia to continue for several more days.

“Despite the damage inflicted on Hamas in northern Gaza and Jabalia, they continue to challenge the Israeli army on a point-by-point basis," it added.

Jabalia is currently a "ghost town," with abandoned dogs roaming the streets that were once bustling with life. "There are no buildings left standing. Any structure that still stands is riddled with bullet and shell fragments," the daily said.

Israel launched a large-scale military offensive in Jabalia over three months ago, displacing tens of thousands of Palestinians, destroying numerous buildings, and causing thousands of casualties.

Palestinians accuse Israel of seeking to occupy the area, turn it into a buffer zone, and force residents to flee through relentless bombardment and a strict siege, depriving them of food, water, and medicine.

The Israeli army has continued a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed more than 45,500 victims, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
