There are also opportunities of cooperation in defense industry, says Bulgarian premier
Greece and Bulgaria on Thursday agreed to improve cooperation particularly in energy and transportation fields.
During the meeting of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with his Bulgarian counterpart Nikolay Denkov, the parties agreed to strengthen and accelerate cooperation focusing on interconnectivity in the fields of energy and transport, on the basis of the South-North Vertical Corridor and cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources, a statement by the Greek Prime Minister's Office read.
It added that a particular emphasis was placed on the connection of road and railway networks between Greece and Bulgaria.
Making remarks before start of the meeting Mitsotakis maintained the Greece has always supported Bulgaria's entry to the Schengen area and in this vein welcomes that Bulgaria and Romanian would be part of the area from March 2024 onwards by sea and air.
Denkov, for his part, affirmed that the two countries enjoy strategic relations in the fields of transport and energy.
“I would also like to mention defense and the defense industry. We have things to discuss here today but there are also opportunities to accelerate and complete some files in the coming months,” he added.
