Turkish security forces killed at least four members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist organization in the ongoing counter-terror operations in the southeastern province of Şırnak.
The operation intensified in the Bahçelievler, Gazi Paşa and İsmet Paşa neighborhoods of Şırnak, where terrorists were ambushed jointly by security forces.
After the day-long clashes, PKK members tried to flee the scene through three points, but security personnel foiled their attempt and killed them.
The initial report says at least four terrorists were killed in the clashes with two police officers slightly injured.
The operation in Şırnak was launched on March 14 to capture terror elements, destroy the explosives, barricades built and ditches dug by PKK terrorists and, re-establish public order in the city.
Since then a total of 361 terrorists were killed, 950 hand-made explosives were destroyed, 164 barricades were lifted and 21 ditches were covered by security forces.
Security authorities say the operation will continue until the city is purged of all terror elements.
