Arms supply to Ukraine fuels and prolongs war, says Rumen Radev

The Bulgarian president slammed the government's growing pro-Ukrainian stance amid reports that the country is preparing to dispatch a new batch of military aid to Ukraine, local media reported on Friday.

"I think it is high time to start thinking soberly and objectively about Ukraine's war and our attitude toward it," said Rumen Radev, according to the state-run BTA news agency.

Recalling British Defense Minister Ben Wallace’s remarks that the “UK is not a warehouse of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” he said that Bulgaria’s government officials “should stop seeing Bulgarian army and its arsenal as a warehouse of a foreign army.”

Arguing that the Bulgarian government is trying to convince the public that sending military aid to Ukraine contributes to the country’s security, Radev maintained that more arms supply to Ukraine, whose bill was paid by Europe, would only fuel and prolong the war.
