As many as 84 irregular migrants were held in western Turkey, security officials said on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, gendarmerie teams rounded up the migrants, including children, from Syria, Egypt and Afghanistan, in Cine town of Aydin city.
The migrants agreed to pay €1,000 per person to smugglers for transfer to Italy, but they were left stranded in Aydin, they told the security officials.
After routine checks, all of the migrants will be taken to the provincial migration authority.
