In ongoing operations in SE and eastern Turkey, 14 PKK terrorists are neutralized and lots of weapons and ammunition seized, the General Staff says
The operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terror organization is continuing non-stop, mainly in southeastern and eastern Turkey's Tunceli, Şırnak and Diyarbakır provinces. Turkish General Staff has revealed the latest developments yesterday.
According to a statement released Monday, in Hozat, a town in eastern Tunceli province, the armed forces confronted terrorists in ongoing operations.
Three terrorists were killed during clashes and security forces have seized their ammunition. Also, a hand-made bomb found in a shelter was defused.
In a distinct operation in the rural areas of Şırnak province in southeastern Turkey, 2 PKK terrorists were neutralized via an air strike.
Five terrorists were killed by drones and 3 others were neutralized during armed conflicts within the context of the operations in Şırnak.
Moreover, in Silvan town of Diyarbakır province in southeastern Turkey, one PKK terrorist was neutralized.
Meanwhile, in Operation Martyr Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Lokman Darğın, conducted in Kiğı town of Bingöl province in SE Turkey, 6 positions and 23 shelters used by the PKK were discovered.
Scores of materials to assemble bombs and hand-made detonators were confiscated during the searching of terrorist elements.
The Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, which is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey and much of the international community, including, the U.S. and the EU countries, has carried out an armed separatist struggle against the Turkish state for roughly 30 years.
Turkey blames the terrorist group for the deaths of tens of thousands of people.
