Onion and garlic, which are packed with vitamins and minerals, boost the immune system due to their antiseptic and antibiotic properties, Prof. Aydan Ercan, head of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at Trakya University in the northwestern province of Edirne, said on Monday.
Ercan told Anadolu Agency that onion and garlic, which can be consumed cooked or raw, should be consumed regularly, adding, "Onions and garlic have an important place in our traditional diet. In our food culture, there are very few dishes without onions and garlic."
