Ankara says Turkish military in the Bashiqa camp has been working for the security in the region as well as for Turkey
The Turkish military, which has been training thousands of local fighter in the Bashiqa military camp near the Daish stronghold of Mosul, should participate in the forthcoming Mosul operation.
Despite being more than a 2-year-old training camp, the Iraqi government raised the issue to push Turkey out of the coalition behind the offensive.
Not only Baghdad but also the Washington administration joined the black propaganda against Ankara over the Bashiqa training camp.
Following the capture of the northern Iraqi city by the Daesh terrorist organization, the Baghdad administration failed to show the determination to free the city of the terror group.
Such a situation makes international involvement compulsory. But Ankara says that local fighters, including the peshmerga, local tribesmen and other volunteers, should be included in the operation for sustainable success against Daesh.
The U.S. attempted to redesign its geopolitical power in the region under the pretext of the fight against Daesh.
Three powers are important in Iraq: The Shiite-dominated central government, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Sunni tribes.
If the operation to liberate the Sunni populated Mosul city launch without participation of Sunni fighters it could create a greater conflict in the city.
But the Iraq central government and Washington administration planned to bypass both Sunnis and KRG. The central government reinforced Shiite militias from Iran for the operation that increased great concern among the other two powers.
The KRG thinks that a Shiite-led operation against Daesh could lead the terror group to KRG territories and result in serious problems for the KRG government, which has already been facing financial problems for several months.
On the other hand, Ankara also wants to prevent a Daesh threat from its border with Iraq as the Turkish military drove away the terror group out of the Syrian border cities.
The U.S.-led coalition forces' presence in Iraqi territory is not a question while Turkey's military presence remains at the front line.
Ankara has said that Turkey's presence in Iraq and Syria is not aimed at local natural resources in contrast to their experiences with other regional powers. But the Turkish military has been working for the security in the region as well as for Turkey.
Moreover, Turkmens are also under Daesh attack in the region and the Turkish army is doing its best to protect Turkmens and train them against terrorists.
Turkey also works to prevent a sectarian conflict in the area. Ankara opposed the Shiite militias' and PKK terrorist group's participation in the operation in order to avoid further conflict.
Ankara said an operation to liberate Mosul from Daesh was not viable without Turkey's military involvement.
