3-day event covered broad spectrum of topics, including economy, security, terrorism, irregular migration
A three-day seminar organized by the Economic and Security Committee of the NATO Mediterranean and Middle East Special Group (GSM) concluded on Wednesday in Türkiye's southern Antalya province.
Mevlut Cavusoglu, head of the Turkish Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, described the seminar as highly productive, noting that it covered a wide range of topics, including the economy, security, terrorism, and irregular migration.
Cavusoglu said the Russia-Ukraine war was discussed and thoroughly examined during the meeting. He reiterated Türkiye's desire for a swift end to the conflict, warning that continued fighting increases complexity and Ukraine's territorial losses.
He also expressed support for US President Donald Trump's efforts to help end the war.
He highlighted terrorism as a major topic at the meeting, noting that it poses a threat not only to Türkiye but also to NATO and Western countries. He stressed the importance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Cavusoglu highlighted that Türkiye has a deep-rooted history in diplomacy and holds an important position in the world today.
He stressed that Türkiye's geographic position requires it to maintain active diplomacy, as most global conflicts occur in its surrounding region.
Cavusoglu cited conflicts in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, and Libya as examples of the global challenges Türkiye engages with. He emphasized that under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's leadership, Türkiye engages in active diplomacy through all institutions and has emerged as a reliable regional actor, contributing to global peace and stability.
