The Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which attempted a military coup last year on July 15 in Turkey, was revealed to have received financial support of $3 billion from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Qatar University’s lecturer Muhammad bin Mukhtar Al-Shanqiti stated that FETÖ’s senior management visited the UAE 22 times before the coup.
Known with his close relations to the Qatari emir, Middle East Specialist Al-Shanqiti said fugitive FETÖ member and former prosecutor Zekeriya Öz and Mohammed Dahlan, also known as the “assassin of the Middle East,” met secretly in the Jumeriah Hotel.
Al-Shanqiti noted FETÖ organized visits in the UAE, in groups of 10-15 people, and, the UAE government paid an invoice of 36 thousand dollars travel expenses with the same aim in October, 2015. He also said that he himself saw the invoice. Speaking to Yeni Şafak, Al-Shanqiti claimed some meetings were held between civilian and military bureaucracy committees, visiting the United Arab Emirates, and the UAE government and Dahlan within the same scope. He added that $3 billion payment was made to the putschists between the dates of October 2015 and July 2016, which was when meeting traffic increased.
“The reason why the UAE supported the July 15 coup attempt led by FETÖ ring leader Fetullah Gülen is the positive relation between Turkey and the Muslim Brotherhood. The UAE and Egypt supported this conspiracy as they saw this situation as detrimental,” Al-Shanqiti pointed out.
Stating that the mediator between the terrorist organization’s leader Fetullah Gülen and the UAE was Mohammed Dahlan, Qatari Middle East Specialist Al-Shanqiti said: “In this context meetings were held between Fetullah Gülen and Dahlan.”
Muhammad Al-Shanqiti finally commented that each and every coup in the Islamic world is orchestrated to silence the adhan (call to prayer) , and the July 15 Resistance confined this treason thanks to them.
FETÖ terrorists are led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gülen, who orchestrated Turkey's July 15 coup attempt and is the mastermind behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
Since the failed coup, operations have been ongoing in the military, police and judiciary as well as in state institutions across the country to arrest suspects with alleged links to FETÖ.
The terrorist group is also known for its network comprised of hundreds of schools around the world
