Airstrikes target terrorist positions in Gara, Zap, Hakurk, Avasin-Basyan regions in last three days, says defense ministry
Turkish forces "neutralized" 38 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq over the last three days, the Defense Ministry said on Monday.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
Turkish jets targeted the terrorist positions in Gara, Zap, Hakurk and Avasin-Basyan regions, the National Defense Ministry said in a Twitter post.
The terror group’s weapon emplacements, shelters and ammo depots were also destroyed in the airstrikes, the military said.
Turkish airstrikes in this region generally target PKK terrorists.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people.
