Turkish Armed Forces strike PKK/PYD positions in northern Syria

Harassment fire was opened from the PKK/PYD terrorists in northern Syria in the early hours of Thursday.

According to security sources in the region the Turkish Armed Forces responded to the harassment fire with artillery fire.

According to sources the Turkish forces' retaliation move was one of self-defense.

For Turkey’s possible Afrin operation border units are fully prepared. Several tanks and armored vehicles have been dispatched to Turkey’s border city Hatay.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States. The PKK has been conducting armed violence in the southeastern part of Turkey since 1984. More than 40,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the three-decade long conflict.
