Foreign Ministry warns Turkish citizens to avoid traveling to regions to be affected by Hurricane Irma
As many as 37 million people could be affected by Hurricane Irma, which has hit the Caribbean causing the death of at least ten people and is expected to reach the U.S. coast of Florida, according to reports.
The United Nations (UN) stated that its humanitarian staff has been deployed in Barbados and the north of Haiti in order to help the victims of Hurricane Irma.
A warning issued by Turkey’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday regarding Hurricane Irma, reads:
"Hurricane Irma, which emerged in the Caribbean region and is classified as ‘Category 5,’ the highest level, is affecting the Caribbean, the U.S.’s state of Florida and its surroundings.
“Our citizens, unless absolutely necessary, are warned to avoid all travel to relevant regions in the forthcoming days.”
