Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi 'brought to justice' following 'daring' nighttime raid in northwest Syria, says US president
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the man who led Daesh terror organization as it swept up large swaths of Iraq and Syria, has been killed in a U.S. night time raid in northwestern Syria, President Donald Trump said Sunday.
Addressing the nation in televised remarks, Trump said the "number one terrorist leader" has been "brought to justice" following the "dangerous and daring" special operations mission.
The U.S. president said he "got to watch much of" the raid, claiming no U.S. forces were lost in the operation "while a large number of Baghdadi's fighters and companions were killed with him."
"He died after running in to a dead-end tunnel, whimpering and crying and screaming all the way," he said.
