The march took place amid calls for settlers to enter the al-Aqsa Mosque
Thousands of Jewish settlers have organized a march to the Western Wall at the foot of the Noble Sanctuary compound in Jerusalem to commemorate the ‘Tisha B’Av’ day, which marks the burning of the Temple of Suleiman, under the protection of Israeli police.
According to a report by WAFA News Agency, groups of Jewish settlers first marched to the Old City, and later performed religious rituals at the Western Wall.
Israeli police have taken secruity measures to facilitate the march, such as closing some streets to traffic.
The march took place amid calls for settlers to enter the al-Aqsa Mosque.
Jews claim that the Temple of Suleiman, which was burned down by Babylonian King Nabonassar in 586 B.C., is located inside the compound of al-Aqsa Mosque.
Despite continuous numerous excavations on the site since 1967, no remnants of the temple were found that confirm its existence.
