Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday described the new U.S. national security strategy as “aggressive”, according to Russia’s news agency TASS.
“The U.S. has recently unveiled its new defense strategy. Speaking the diplomatic language, it is obviously offensive, and, if we switch to military language, it is certainly aggressive,” Putin said, according to TASS.
“We must take this into account in our practical work,” he added, speaking at a Russian Defense Ministry board meeting.
U.S. President Donald Trump revealed his first national security strategy, a 55-page document, on Tuesday.
The strategy classifies Russia and China as "revisionist powers" citing their use of "technology, propaganda, and coercion to shape a world antithetical to our interests and values".
